Galaxy Broadband Launches New Satellite Network Hub in Canada

Improved Enterprise Grade Satellite Internet Infrastructure for Canadian Business Rick Hodgkinson the President of Galaxy Broadband Communications Inc. announced today the recent installation of an industry leading Hughes DVB-S2 Hub at our teleport in Hamilton, Ontario. This fully redundant new hub will offer commercial and enterprise grade services to Canadian business, government and resources based enterprises virtually anywhere in Canada.

Mr. Hodgkinson said; "Our customers have been asking for a reliable and fully supported Voice over IP or VoIP service, with our new hub, we can deliver. This is the first satellite service in Canada to fully support and prioritize VoIP packets which will improve call quality and reliability. We are also providing new Service Plans that can be customized to improve the performance of satellite VPN connections and other business applications."

Galaxy Broadband's new satellite service will enter the Internet and terminate on Canadian soil. Canadian business and government seeking an end to end service now have a competitive choice. According to Mr. Hodgkinson, "We have significantly improved the options for Canadian companies seeking a satellite Internet solution and have added greatly to the overall Internet infrastructure for the country."

The Hughes DVB-S2 is the latest technology from Hughes Network Systems on the IPOS international standard. "We selected the Hughes hub for several reasons but the most important is the proven reliability of the remote terminals. This fits very well with our company focus on reliability coupled with exceptional support" stated Mr. Hodgkinson.

In addition to providing high-speed Internet when cable or DSL are not present, Galaxy can now offer stand by service plans to companies seeking a back up service to terrestrial networks. This insures business continuity in the event of a disaster causing interruption to their primary Internet connection. This is important because most Internet Service Providers offer only land based service; satellite offers a non-terrestrial route to the Internet.
